EXO OT9, 2016

One day in 2012, my cousin showed me a video clip of some guys dancing to their song called MAMA. I had no idea who they were. My cousin explained “This is EXO. They have just debuted.” I remember her eyes were full of sparks while saying it. “They have 12 members. 6 members in EXO-K, K means Korea. And another 6 members in EXO-M, M means Mandarin.”

It was the first time I saw them. I had known about K-pop. I knew Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, and Big Bang, but I hadn’t interested to know them.

I started to stan EXO in 2015 when 2nd album ‘EXODUS’ was just released. Luhan and Kris had left the group. I barely knew either of them. That album was the last project Tao worked on with EXO before he joined Luhan and Kris back in China and started his career individually.

I know I wasn’t a fan yet when Luhan and Kris left the group, or any struggles they went through. But it didn’t matter. Right?

Now, EXO is one of the biggest K-pop idols with 9 members. There are Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Chen, Baekhyun, D.O, Chanyeol, Kai, and Sehun. Even though Lay have been working in China for almost 8 years, but he’s still EXO.

They are never failed to make me smile, to make me proud of them, to make me cry that I haven’t seen them in real life //sobbing// LOL. No, but seriously, I want to see them so badly. (Bismillah after Sehun has completed his military, which is at the end of 2025, still 2 years to go)

I can’t describe the feeling that I have for them. This feeling is more than just love, more than just “oppa, saranghae!” I can’t find the right word that can explain how much I LOVE them.

Thank you, EXO, for making me never feel alone. I am still here, I’ll always be here.
